SC allows Italian ship, Marines to leave India
New Delhi, May 2, 2012
The Supreme Court on Wednesday ordered the release of Italian merchant navy ship Enrica Lexie, which was seized after two of its Marines had allegedly killed two Indian fishermen off Kerala coast in February this year.
The apex court also allowed four marines and six crew members on board it to leave Indian shores after the Italian government and the ship owner assured it that they will be available when required by Indian legal authorities.

Relief as fire-hit cruise ship safe in Malaysia

Passengers of a fire-damaged luxury cruise ship lauded the captain and crew on Monday for maintaining order and bringing them safely ashore in Malaysia after 24 hours adrift in Philippine waters.

IOC defends Dow sponsorship

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has appreciated Indian Olympic Association’s (IOA) concern for the victims of 1984 Bhopal Tragedy but maintained that Dow Chemicals had no ownership stakes in Union Carbide till 2000.
IOC also said that its relationship with Dow Chemicals is well over 30 years and “we were aware of the Bhopal tragedy when discussing the partnership with Dow.”

A cruise ship that ran aground off Italy’s western coast was listing 80 degrees to one side and had a 70-metre crack in its hull, reports said Saturday.

Six people were reported killed after a cruise ship apparently hit a shoal and began taking water off Italy’s western coast, reports quoted rescue workers saying late Friday.
