Sarath Fonseka will be released soon, says Rajapaksa
COLOMBO, May 15, 2012
Jailed former Army Commander of Sri Lanka Sarath Fonseka, who led the Eelam war IV against the Tamil Tigers and helped win it, is set to be released shortly.
“We will release him soon,” Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa told The Hindu on the sidelines of a function organised to launch a book, Gota's War, here on Monday.

As the United States' and European Union's combined sanctions against Iran take effect, small nations like Sri Lanka are extremely worried. Sri Lanka depends almost entirely on Iran for its crude oil supplies and the only refinery in the country, Sapugaskanda, can only process Iranian crude.

Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa on Monday hailed the returning national cricket team after their efforts in reaching the World Cup final -- which they lost to India.
