117 Pakistani soldiers missing as avalanche hits Siachen Glacier
ISLAMABAD, April 8, 2012
Over 100 Pakistani soldiers guarding the frontiers on the Siachen glacier have been trapped under heaps of snow after a massive avalanche hit a military camp early morning on Saturday.
Despite daylong searches, not one of the 117 soldiers was located but the Army has not given up hope, though condolence messages have begun coming in as prospects of survivors began fading with every passing minute.

32 dead, 200 missing in Bangladesh ferry capsize
DHAKA, March 14, 2012
In one of the worst boat tragedies in recent times, at least 32 people, including women and children, were killed and nearly 200 missing when a ferry packed with 300 passengers capsized in a river in central Bangladesh on Tuesday after a head-on collision with an oil tanker.
“Divers have recovered 32 bodies from the sunken vessel including five women and three children,” Superintendent of Police Tariqul Islam said.

Cruise ship lists 80 degrees, search for missing continues

A cruise ship that ran aground off Italy’s western coast was listing 80 degrees to one side and had a 70-metre crack in its hull, reports said Saturday.
Local officials amended the death toll, saying three, not six, people had been confirmed dead so far. It was unclear how many people were still missing. Rescuers searched the waters throughout the night and into the day, Ansa news agency said.

Army chopper with four personnel goes missing in Sikkim

An Army helicopter, with two pilots and two soldiers, on Thursday went missing while flying over north Sikkim, triggering concerns over the fate of the chopper and the personnel.
The Advance Light Helicopter (ALH) Dhruv of the Army Aviation Corps had taken off from Sewak Road Base in Siliguri at 10.30 a.m., Army sources said.
It lost radio contact at around 11.30 a.m., the sources said adding efforts are on to locate it.

A Swiss man left a written plan that spelled out his intention to kill himself and his twin daughters, a family member said Friday.
Alessia and Livia Schepp were reported missing on Jan. 30, when Matthias Kaspar Schepp failed to return them to the home in Lausanne, Switzerland, where their mother, Irina Lucidi, lived.
On Feb. 3, police found Schepp's body in the southern Italian city of Cerignola. It is believed that he threw himself under a train.

Kakdwip, West Bengal: At least 18 people have drowned and over a 100 are still missing after a crowded trawler capsized in the Muriganga river near Sagar Islands in South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal yesterday.
