Cold wave continues to sweep Delhi

Delhi on Saturday remained in the grip of cold wave with the minimum temperature hovering around five degree Celsius even as shallow fog covered the city during the early hours.
The minimum temperature was recorded at 5.4 degree Celsius, two degrees below normal, while the maximum in the last 24 hours was recorded at 14.6 degrees, seven degrees below normal for this time of the year.

Cruise ship lists 80 degrees, search for missing continues

A cruise ship that ran aground off Italy’s western coast was listing 80 degrees to one side and had a 70-metre crack in its hull, reports said Saturday.
Local officials amended the death toll, saying three, not six, people had been confirmed dead so far. It was unclear how many people were still missing. Rescuers searched the waters throughout the night and into the day, Ansa news agency said.

Freezing winter continues in Kashmir Valley

The Kashmir Valley continued to freeze on Sunday with the minimum temperature dipping three degrees below normal to minus 4.8 degrees Celsius while Leh was biting cold at minus 17.6 degrees.
'Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of minus 4.8 degrees Celsius on Sunday, which is three degrees below normal, while Jammu recorded a minimum of 7.5 degrees, two degrees below normal,' said A.R. Zargar, meteorologist at the weather office here.
